Have you ever seen a drunk monkey?
The vervet monkey is common in East Africa and adapts easily to many environments. Vervet monkeys living near areas inhabited by people can become pests, stealing food and other items and raiding crops. Good climbers, jumpers and swimmers, they often elude capture. This is a video from the BBC’s „Weird Nature” series of „wild living”, vervet monkeys from St. Kitts that perform daily raids on the island’s bars. Some parallels between human drinking habits and „alcohol gene” are also discussed in this movie. Just like humans, small primates can acquire a taste for alcohol – and behave in a similar fashion when under its influence, scientists have discovered.

Maimuta vervet este comuna estului Africii dar se adapteaza usor oricarui mediu. Maimutele vervet ce traiesc in preajma asezarilor umane devin daunatoare, fura mancare sau alte obiecte si ataca culturile. Sunt bune cataratoare, saritoare si inotatoare excelente, asa ca scapa cu usurinta cu capturile. acesta este un fragment dintr-un film produs de BBC din seria „Weird Nature” si trateaza problema maimutelor vervet din St. Kitts ce fac zilnic raiduri la barurile de pe insula. Se fac unele paralele intre obiceiul de a bea al oamenilor si existenta „genei alcoolului”. Micile maimute, ca si oamenii, pot dobandi gustul pentru alcool – si se comporta similar cand se afla sub influenta lui – au descoperit oamenii de stiinta.

Este condus insa in stilul personajului interpretat de el, de soferul unei ricse care tine cu orice chip sa-l impresioneze pe fostul Agent 007. Delicios!
Nine-year-old carried friend to safety
Memorial Hermann Hospital officials tell Eyewitness News that Eric Kelley, 10 years old, is listed as stable, after he was hit by a driver in the east side of the town, who then fled the scene. He and his friend were on their way home on their bicycles around 7pm Tuesday when police say an SUV ran a stop sign at Avenue E at Cesar Chavez and hit Kelley. Police said the vehicle stopped long enough for someone to get out, remove the bike from underneath the car, and leave the scene. In the meantime, Ruben Nuncio, the youngster’s nine-year-old best friend jumped into action, carried him home, and called 911.

Se numeste Ruben Nuncio si si-a salvat prietenul carandu-l pur si simplu in spate pana la spital, dupa ce acesta a fost lovit de o masina in timp ce se intorceau acasa pe biciclete. Pana aici nu vi se pare nimic prea iesit din comun, dar daca am sa va spun ca prietenul sau are 10 ani iar el doar 9, altfel suna povestea, asa-i?
A hotel with the most unique view
Everland” is a hotel with one room, a bathroom, a king-size bed and a lounge. What makes it so different is that this hotel travels (it is also an art installation)! The Everland has been „parked” in the most unsual places, like the roof-deck of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig, Germany. Now is in Paris with a spectacular view on the Eiffel Tower from its place at the roof of Palais de Tokyo.

„Everland” este un hotel cu o singura camera, baie, un pat king-size si … un mic living. Ce-l face diferit de celelalte este faptul ca acest hotel calatoreste (este deasemenea o instalatie artistica)! Everland a fost „parcat” in cele mai neobisnuite locuri, ca de exemplu acoperisul Muzeului de Arta Contemporana din Leipzig, Germania. Acum se afla in Paris cu o vedere spectaculoasa asupra Turnului Eiffel, de pe acoperisul Palais de Tokyo.
