Palatul de sare din Grand Saline, Texas este singura cladire din SUA facuta in intregime din sare. Orasul, fondat in 1845, se afla pe varful unui depozit de sare care este inca exploatat. Depozitul este atat de bogat incat se estimeaza rezervele de sare vor dura 20.000 de ani.
A cowgirl joke
A cowgirl, who is visiting Texas from Arkansas, walks into a bar and orders three mugs of Bud. She sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When she finishes them, she comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender approaches and tells the cowgirl, „You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time.”

The National Poetry Contest had come down to two, a Yale graduate and a redneck from Texas. They were given a word, then allowed 2 minutes to study the word and come up with a poem that contained the word. The word they were given was „Timbuktu”.
A pair of boots
An elderly couple, Ray and Bessie, retired in Texas. Ray always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots. Seeing some on sale one day, he buys them, wears them home, walking proudly. He walks into the house and says to his wife „notice anything different about me?”

Nine-year-old carried friend to safety
Memorial Hermann Hospital officials tell Eyewitness News that Eric Kelley, 10 years old, is listed as stable, after he was hit by a driver in the east side of the town, who then fled the scene. He and his friend were on their way home on their bicycles around 7pm Tuesday when police say an SUV ran a stop sign at Avenue E at Cesar Chavez and hit Kelley. Police said the vehicle stopped long enough for someone to get out, remove the bike from underneath the car, and leave the scene. In the meantime, Ruben Nuncio, the youngster’s nine-year-old best friend jumped into action, carried him home, and called 911.
