You can shine

Thais are known with their lengthy and touching commercials, and this one below to proves that again. Well, you will be wondering what they want to advertise, and it might be surprise when you reach the end. Anyway, a very touching story. A duck tries to fly! And a deaf tries to play violin…

Thai Pantene television commercial it’s simply brilliant. The spot features the story of a deaf and mute Thai girl who is a talented violinist but feels isolated by those around her who try their best to discourage her from pursuing her love for playing the instrument. The spot ends on a note of achievement as the girl, despite personal losses, goes on to wow audiences at a talent contest. One of the most touching advertisements I’ve seen in a long, long time. A deaf girl learns to play the violin. It’s a beautiful and moving TV commercial, inspirational and motivational. Awesome commercial which added a tinge of human touch to it, besides the usual hair throwing stunts for almost all shampoo ads. Minus the unrealistic scenes of the taped violin etc (c’mon, just an ad, what do u expect?), what matters more is the message it is putting across. That anyone, can shine, and will shine.

It portrayed the darkest side of human’s heart, but yet highlighted the fact that nothing can beat or handicap your determination and desire to chase the very dream you’ve been harboring. Reminding me a quote I saw somewhere: “doing what you love, it’s never tiresome. “

Has won a silver medal at the New York film festival in the short film category. The spot (an account held by Grey Thailand), was conceptualized by Grey India’s former creative director Sajan Raj Kurup. The Director was the well-known (for the Thailand market) Thai director Thanonchai Sornsriwithi.
