I am so happy when I’m immersed in a totally new and breathtakingly beautiful environment. Juvet Landskapshotell or the „landscape hotel” fits this vision perfectly; it is located in Gudbrandsjuvet, Norway and is a bold blend of modern design and natural surroundings.
Well about the surroundings … The Burtigard farmstead in Gudbrand’s ravine, nestled among the craggy fjords of the Norddal municipality. And for the design? A farmhouse, a barn, plus ten detached hotel rooms scattered in the foliage, each with at least one wall made entirely of glass, and none overlooking another.
The concept used in this case is of geotourism, meaning a „harmonious marriage between nature and modern design”. All rooms, though starkly different from their surrounds, are integrated into them through their vast windows. Guests, are invited to stay for 5 days and be looked after by local hosts who prepare their food, inform them about the environment they are in, and take them on tours of it. Total immersion.
