Prima data publicat de Restaurant Magazine in 2002, iar astazi in al saptelea an al existentei sale, The S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants este recunoscut peste tot in lume drept cel mai credibil indicator al celor mai bune, rafinate, bine organizate locuri de pe pamant in care se poate manca. A stimulat dezbateri aprinse si uneori controverse, dar agitatia generata printre cei ce sperau sa faca parte din lista precum si masivul interes generat, au adus industriei restaurantelor doar castiguri.
